The Sea of Galilee is like life itself: beautiful and tranquil at times, stormy and threatening at other times.
At the end of a long day of instruction on the shores of Galilee, Jesus and His disciples got into a boat and after pushing away from the shore, Jesus fell asleep. Then a storm exploded in full fury.
The disciples were scared and rushed to the Savior and in unison exclaimed: "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?" They forgot that Jesus did not ask them to come with Him to be drowned but to ‘go over to the other side.’
What stormy and unexpected event in your life has gotten you panicking and fretful? Remember the beginning of this journey. Didn’t He promise to take you to other side safe and secure and not allow you to drown?
The command Jesus gives to the storm in Mark 4:35-41 is the same command (in Greek) that he uses to heal the tortured soul in Mark 1:25. No wonder Paul describes this powerful peace as that ‘which transcends all understanding’ (Philippians 4:7)
Invite Jesus into your ‘boat’ whether it is your home, business, family, career, workplace, studies, ministry or church and allow Him to calm your anxieties and still your storms of doubt, regret and uncertainties.
So when the devil comes knocking at your door, you can politely ask:
"Jesus, could you please get that for me?"
HE IS MORE THAN ABLE
